Şehremini Anadolu Lisesi (ŞAL) eski adıyla Şehremini Lisesi (ŞL), İstanbul'un Fatih ilçesinin Çapa semtinde Uygulama Ortaokulu olarak 1950-1951 öğretim yılında açılmıştır. Kemal Kaya'nın girişimleri ile "Derviş Paşa Konağı" arsasına yapılan binada 3 Ekim 1955'te Şehremini Ortaokulu adı ile eğitim ve öğretime başlanmış ve okulun kurucu müdürlüğüne Tahir Tezcan atanmıştır. O dönemin valisi Vefa Poyraz'ın isteği ile 1970-1971 öğretim yılından itibaren liseye çevrilmiştir. Kurucu müdür Tahir Tezcan'dan sonra Tevfik Ak (1975-1985) ve Şükrü Kaya Yaşar (1985-1992) okul müdürü olarak görev yapmıştır. Ağustos 1992 tarihinden itibaren de Mehmet Ata Özer okul müdürlüğü görevini sürdürmüştür. Bu süreç içerisinde okul dünya basketbol şampiyonu olmuş ve dünya çapında tanınmaya başlamıştır. 1993 yılında lisenin İngilizce eğitim veren yabancı dil ağırlıklı bölümü de Şehremini Süper Lisesi adıyla açılmıştır. 2006 yılında Mehmet Ata Özer'in İstanbul İl Millî Eğitim Müdürü olmasıyla İsmail Can okul müdürü olmuştur. 2015 yılından itibaren müdürlük görevini Yüksel Köşker yürütmektedir. 5.00 not ortalamasıyla öğrenci alan tek devlet okulu olma özelliğini taşıyan Şehremini Lisesi,Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Millî Eğitim Bakanlığı'nın almış olduğu kararla 2005 yılında Anadolu Lisesi olmuştur. 2021-2022 yılından itibaren 2 yıldır hazırlık sınıfı ile eğitim vermektedir. Okul, 2022 yılında AP Okulları Birliği ile “Uluslararası Akademik İş Birliği" protokolü imzalamıştır. 2023-2024 eğitim-öğretim yılından itibaren AP (Advanced Placement) programını öğrencilerine sunacaktır.

Şehremini Anatolian High School (ŞAL), formerly known as Şehremini High School, was opened in the 1950-1951 Academic year as a Practice Secondary School in Çapa district of Fatih, Istanbul. In the building constructed on the land of "Derviş Paşa Mansion" with the initiatives of Kemal Kaya, education and training began on October 3, 1955 under the name of Şehremini Secondary School and Tahir Tezcan was appointed as the founding director of the school. With the request of Vefa Poyraz, the governor of that period, it was converted into a high school beginning from 1970-1971 Academic year. After the founding principal Tahir Tezcan, Tevfik Ak (1975-1985) and Şükrü Kaya Yaşar (1985-1992) served as school principals. Mehmet Ata Özer had been the school principal since August 1992. Within that period, the school became the world basketball champion and began to be recognized around the world. In 1993, the English-based Foreign Language Department of the high school was opened under the name of Şehremini Super High School. After Mehmet Ata Özer had become the Istanbul Provincial Director of National Education in 2006, İsmail Can became the new school principal. Since the year 2015, Yüksel Köşker has been working as the school principal. Şehremini High School, which had been the only public school that accepted students with a 5.00 grade point average, became an Anatolian High School in 2005 with the decision taken by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Turkey. From 2021-2022 Academic year on, Şehremini Anatolian High School has been providing education with English Preparatory Class for 2 years. The school has signed “International Academic Cooperation” protocol with AP Schools Association in 2022 and it will offer AP (Advanced Placement) Program to its students beginning from the 2023-2024 Academic year.
